About Me
My name is Brian Brown, and I’ve been making knives since 2015. Growing up in Brandon, Mississippi, I spent countless hours in my dad’s woodworking shop, learning new skills and building things of my own. While I always enjoyed working with my hands, woodworking never fully sparked my passion. That changed when I stumbled upon a YouTube video (you really can find anything on YouTube) showing how to make a fixed-blade knife using simple hand tools. I was immediately intrigued and decided to give it a try. Although my first knife took almost two months to complete, I was hooked from the moment I finished it.What started as a weekend hobby quickly became a side hustle. Every night after my full-time job—and once my daughters were tucked into bed—I’d head to the garage to make knives. By 2018, I had built a solid following on Instagram, and in May of that year, I took the leap to become a full-time knife maker, focusing primarily on custom fixed blades.Since then, I’ve expanded my craft to include custom folding knives, and I’ve designed production knives for, and collaborated with, top-tier companies like WE Knife, Civivi, and Reate. My knife designs—known for their streamlined, purpose-built aesthetic—often take inspiration from aviation. One of my best-selling models, the Yeager, is even named after legendary pilot Chuck Yeager. It’s been an incredible journey, and I feel fortunate to pursue this passion every day. I’m always striving to improve my craft and leave my mark, however small, on the knife-making community. The story behind my designs
Brian Brown Knives was built on clean design, balance, and purpose. I’ve always been drawn to the kind of details that make something feel both precise and natural, and aviation plays a big role in that inspiration. In aircraft design, every line and angle serves a function, and I try to bring that same mindset into my knives. You can see it across the lineup — the Raptor with its aerodynamic flow and smooth transitions, the Yeager-M with its bold, aggressive stance, and the Corvus with a mix of sleek precision and everyday practicality. Every knife is meant to look refined but built to work, designed to feel balanced in hand and perform the way a knife should.
What about production knives?
My production models carry the same DNA as my customs, made possible through partnerships with some of the best manufacturers in the world. The Raptor, now in its third version, continues to refine what I believe an everyday carry knife should feel like. The Civivi ExOne, available now, offers an approachable way to experience my design philosophy. The Corvus and Yeager-M, both produced by Reate, show what happens when premium materials meet precise craftsmanship. These collaborations allow me to share my work with more people while keeping the standards I’ve set for myself.
Who makes my production knives?
I work closely with Reate, WE Knife Co., and Civivi to bring my designs to life. Each partner has their own strengths, but they all share my commitment to quality and consistency. I stay involved through every step, from design to prototype to production, making sure each knife feels like something I’d be proud to have made myself. Whether it’s a custom or production piece, it all comes from the same place — a genuine passion for making knives that work as good as they look
What are my custom models?
The Warthog, Yeager, Taka, and Falke make up my core custom lineup. Each one represents a different point in my journey and a part of my evolution as a maker. These are the knives where I experiment, refine ideas, and chase the perfect blend of comfort, flow, and performance. Every one is built by hand and made to reflect the same design principles that guide all my work.
